Hello Everybody, I am about to create the biggest Movie Carnival ever created by a man. I also created a video to accompany the carnival but you can skip that if you like. If you would like to see my make a fool of myself go ahead and click the video. If not enjoy the Film Junkie Movie Carnival.
I have to warn you that you might have to crank the audio if you elect to watch the video. I apologize that the audio isn’t better my microphone is in storage and I hate Windows Movie Maker. It is an ass and I need to get a better video editor.
Hello folks, I am Blue Skelton and I am about to publish what might be the largest Movie Blog Carnival that has ever been created. I forgot to check with my great friends and fellow movie carnival publishers, Scott Nehring and Film Guru to make sure it was the biggest. But I do know one thing for sure: with 34 submissions, we have one heck of a carnival tonight.
First of all I want to thank all of my contributors and apologize for posting this carnival so late. I am currently having trouble with my pancreas and have been extremely ill. I am very sorry that I could not have gotten it done sooner but lets this great show started now.
I put some excellent articles at the bottom of the carnival as well as the top and the middle so make sure to give some love to the bloggers at the bottom of the list. I put quality bloggers down there to entice you to finish. Of course every blogger who submitted is a high quality blogger. I am just trying to entice you to finish the carnival.
And please forgive me for any typos. I just don’t have the heart to go through and proofread a 5 page blog article. Okay, here is the Film Junkie Carnival…enjoy.
We had varying reactions to the hit Cloverfield monster movie. I personally liked the concept of the film despite the monster being a bit campy and getting sick from watching the DV footage. Overall though I thought it was the best monster movie in years putting Godzilla and King Kong to shame.
Phil B however hated the film and presents us 5 Reasons Why Hype Sucks <<> posted at Phil for Humanity, saying, "This was written because of the horrible movie Cloverfield." It’s still a great article and everyone on the Production Blog is entitled to their opinion and we want to thank Phil for Humanity for sharing his.
Vaprak from the The Critical Critics had a much different take on the film. He thought that Cloverfield was a work of genius in his Movie Review of Cloverfield. Vaprak has been a regular contributor to the Film Junkie and we also want to thank him for his support of the Production Blog. He recently put us on the Technorati Favorites List which we are forever indebted to him for.
From our Great Friends and Amazing Bloggers...
Next we have a couple posts from a couple of our favorite bloggers. Gautam Valluri presents Interview with Scott Cummings posted at Broken Projector, saying, "Exclusive Interview with Independent Filmmaker Scott Cummings." We also want to congratulate Gautam again on the completion of his new film. We hope that it is a smashing success.
Then our new friend, Carla Chadwick presents Trivia Quiz: Lindsay Lohan Movies posted at Tricky Movie Trivia, saying, "A trivia quiz about the movies of Lindsay Lohan" She also gives us a bonus trivia game for all the best Movies Released in 2007. We just want to thank Carla one last time for all the support that she has shown us and we hope that she will keep in touch and keep submitting articles.
Film Industry Posts
We have some great film industry posts tonight. Theodore Pappas presents George Stevens, Rebel Filmmaker posted at Britannica Blog, saying, "A wonderful post on director George Stevens, whose career spanned the silent and talkie eras, beginning with shorts featuring Laurel and Hardy and Our Gang and crested in the 1950s with the now-classic films Shane (1953) and Giant (1956)." He obviously knows that I am a huge fan of Rebel Filmmaking.
Then we have some fricking great coverage of Sundance from Daniel Lafleche who presents Sundance Film Festival 2008: Five Key Trends and Must-Knows for Indie Directors and Producers posted at Film and Video Marketplace Blog, saying, "The fascinating 2008 edition of the Sundance Film Festival , which has just ended, leaves us with a lot to think about. Here are 5 things to chew on as American movies face what is likely a pivotal year. This was a great post Daniel. Welcome to the Production Blog and I hope to hear from you again.
Conan Stevens presents Movie Extras, What To Do At The Film Set posted at Conan Stevens Online, saying, "Hints and tips backed with real life stories about getting into movie work" Thanks for the post Conan, I really hope that you submit more in the future. Its nice to have industry related articles and that goes for all of you who submitted including…
…Robert Phillips who gives us How to Gain Instant Credibility for a DVD posted at How to Create a DVD without Spending a Dime. I know that I will be reading his blog a lot once we get to the post production portion of our film.
Movie Reviews
First we get our first review from an actual actor. William "Sandy" Smillie presents William "Sandy" Smillie - Chicago Actor - Theatre and Film Reviews posted at William "Sandy" Smillie - Chicago Actor, saying, "A film review from an actor's point of view." I really enjoyed this review and I hope that he will continue contributing as with all the great writers we featured tonight.
Missy presents P.S. I Love You - Movie Review posted at Observations from Missy's Window, saying, "Check out my thoughts on the latest contribution to Chick Flick genre." I am not usually into Chick Flicks but this is one movie I want to see and our behind the scenes video was the most popular post ever next to the notorious Vanessa Hudgens article that started it all. I posted the behind the scenes video for PS I love You at the bottom of the post because I didn’t want to steal Missy’s Thunder.
Joe Ewens presents Joyous Film Review posted at Joyous Film Review, saying, "A review of the 2007 remake of Poseidon." I enjoyed his article much more than I enjoyed the film let me tell you that. Thanks Joe. Keep the reviews flowing.
Swollen Pickle (what a name) gives us Alien vs Predator: Requiem posted at Swollen Pickles. I am sorry I am moving on I can’t get over the name of his blog.
Blue Sunshine presents MiscGarbage.com, Doom Asylum Review posted at MiscGarbage.com, saying, "Review of 80's cult slasher film, Doom Asylum!" This was a very enjoyable article. Wow you know I am tired when that is the best thing I can write. Still I mean it. This was another one of the blogs that really shone through this week.
Mike Blitz presents Review: Stardust posted at Kaboom Review. It’s a great article and I want to apologize to Mike for not posting it in a more timely fashion so that it would have been more time relevant. I promise if you submit again, I will make up for it. And you all should definitely check out his review and give him some link love since I crewed it up. Jeremy Hobbs also gives us his take of Stardust posted at The Consumer's Corner. My Apologies to him as well.
Will Smith is Not a Nazi
John Crenshaw presents Mindless Zombies Attack Will Smith, And I’m Not Talking About His New Movie posted at Dominate Your Life, In which John dispels and debunks the idiots who completely misconstrued Will Smiths comments. I realize that it is a sensitive matter and I don’t think we should blame the people attacking Will on this But they should paid more attention to what Will said rather than misconstrue it all to Hell. I also want to apologize to John. He wrote a great article and I am sorry that I could not have made it timelier.
Graphic Design and Advertising
Next we have a couple posts that are Photoshop Related posts headlined by Dwayne Tucker presents Photoshop CS2 Tutorial Median posted at Dwayne Tucker - PhotoShop Blog / Tutorials. Dwayne Tucker has also given us another great post that is entitled A conversation about advertising, with David Ogilvy posted at Dwayne Tucker - PhotoShop Blog / Tutorials, saying, "David Ogilvy gives advice to young advertisers; I am Dwayne Tucker from http://DwayneTucker.com" This post isn’t about photoshopping directly but it was posted on the Photoshop Blog (excellent btw. I had visited there prior to this submission.) Since I am an advertising major, I was really glad to have his submission.
Mama Bloggers
Now we are going to take a little time out for Romance with Christine who submitted Taking Time for Romantic Comedies posted at Me, My Kid and Life: An American Single Mom Living in France. This is Christine’s first appearance on the Production Blog and we want to give her a big heartfelt welcome and thank her for the post it was great and I think she has a really unique flavor and subject matter to her blog.
After that we get another great motherly post from Amanda who gives us Pajama Mommy Reviews: Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix posted at Pajama Mommy, saying, "This review contains NO spoilers." That’s good to know that there aren’t any spoilers. CBS ruined the Half Blood Prince for me and I can’t remember who ruined The Deathly Hallows. I know who lives, who dies, etc. But I won’t tell you and I think its great that Pajama Mommy has kept it a secret.
Zombies
Scott Davis from ZombieChatter.com. tells us 5 Movies of 2007 You Missed but Should Have Seen. Zombie Chatter is one of the best undead websites out there. If you want to know about the latest undead outbreak or zombie attack, I highly recommend the website. And speaking of the dead rising, I do need some coffee or I am going to turn into a zombie myself.
Eric Frey continues our zombie coverage with his take on I Am Legend posted at Eric Frey Dot Com. Welcome to the Film Junkie, Eric. Please keep those zombies or articles coming. We love em.
TV
We are also very fortunate to see the return of Kevin Fleming on the Film Junkie. He provides us a place to Watch Heroes Online. He runs a great website called the Satellite TV Guru and he has always been really nice about including my crappy articles in his blog carnival.
Alex M presents Kyle XY TV Show posted at Videos and web TV. I am exhausted now. I can’t believe how many submissions we got. Regardless we want to welcome Alex to the Production Blog and hope that he keeps contributing.
Sweep the Leg Johnny!
James Feudo presents Video of the week: The Karate Kid which is one of my favorite movies of all time posted at one of my favorite blogs Overnight Sensation, saying, "A quick review of the Karate Kid including a video clip of the ending." Just remember everyone… Cobra Kai, NO MERCY!!! And I had to post this video in honor of this post. It’s nowhere near as cool as James Feudo’s article so go check out his post first.
Commonweath Bank: Michael Bey Style.
TV Commercial Analyst, Chris presents My favorite new Commercial …Commonwealth Bank: Anthem posted at DropKick MonKey, saying, "This commercial has a cameo from
2008 Movie Preview
And then we really saved the best for last. I hated to do this to the guy and I will definitely post him first next time. Matt OConnor give us a 2008 Preview part 3 - Say What!?!? posted at Cult Movie News. I told you that I was saving the best for last so I have to reward you with something so Matt got the marquee spot. I am a regular reader of Cult Movie News thanks to the submission and you should definitely check it out as well.
Wrap up:
Well that wraps up the Carnival and I want to reiterate that every submission was fricking amazing. I hope that each and every one of you will consider submitting again. I am not kidding either. I only removed 2 submissions and that was only for the purpose of space. Every author that submitted had at least one article published.
I hope that you enjoyed the largest and hopefully the best movie blog carnival ever created. I know that I enjoyed reading the articles and putting it on. Good night everyone and God Bless.
