I want to talk for a minute about Stull,
Stull was and remains a favorite haunt for teenagers on Halloween. All the pagan kids would go there to smoke dope or carry out their crazy rituals. Mostly they went there to smoke dope.
There are many legends surrounding the
Despite what the video says this is the real cemetery.
I actually had the opportunity to visit the church back in 2001 before it was destroyed and let me tell you it was creepy up there. However, bottles broke against the wall, the trees grew standing up, and the graves looked pretty normal to me. Still it was scary and the perfect place for a zombie attack. Still there was a curious thing scratched into the wall.
“I know why Jesus Wept.”
I found this to be very eloquent and yet perplexing. I wrote my name on the wall along with all the names etched into the Limestone. Looking back on it, I don’t think it was a very good idea to etch my name into what might be the 7th Gateway to Hell. But I was young and stupid and not very superstitious anyways.
These days, I would not recommend sneaking into the Stull cemetery. Without the Church, there really isn’t anything that exciting to see. Plus the Sheriff will toss you in the clink if they catch you. They used to be pretty cool about the whole thing and would let you off with a fine and a couple days served but I’m not sure I’d risk it these days.
Still the Stull Cemetary is very beautiful and a creepy place. For those of you really want to see this place of haunted history and are willing to risk a trespassing charge, you can find directions to Stull, Kansas here. The cemetery is located off the highway, you can’t miss it.

Creepy place! I can't believe you etched your name onto a gateway to hell!

That graffitti is creepy, too. I wonder how the legend got started?

Thank you all for Commenting!
Up next blue skeleton presents Stull Kansas posted at Blue Skelton Publications, saying, “There are many legends surrounding the Stull Cemetery located outside of Lawrence, Kansas. It was said that on Halloween the devil would appear. It was said that if you threw a glass bottle against the church walls that it would not break. It was also rumored that the trees grew upside down and that the bodies were buried upside down standing up.” Blue Skeleton goes on to say that his own visit disproved the above rumors; however the place is pretty creepy. Thanks for painting a cool gothic image with your post Blue Skelton.

My husband's ex-wife was from that area... talking about a Gateway to Hell :D
Great article.
J
lol, Lawrence is a great place to live though. Didn't look like there was much to Stull.
I'm a map maker and I noticed tonight, on google earth, that the center of the road at the center of the entry into the graveyard has both a longitude and laditude that ends in 666! Very unusual and very weird, check it out yourself. Creepy!
