Resident Evil Extinction

Resident Evil Extinction has set its release date for next weekend. The movie is on the top of the list of my movies to see next weekend. I was lukewarm towards the Resident Evil series after watching the first film. But after watching the movie Resident Evil - ApocalypseBlue Skelton Productions, I really began to appreciate the series.

I am a big fan of zombie movies. I love movies like Shaun of the Dead, or Night of the Living DeadBlue Skelton Productions. The Resident Evil series is a different take on the zombie flick. It is one of the most successful movie franchises based on a video game that we have seen to date.

Resident Evil Extinction raises the bar for the whole franchise. I just hope that the film doesn’t fall short of expectations. I have had a hard-on for a good post-apocalyptic movie for quite some time now and I am hoping that Resident Evil Extinction can be that movie. I was hoping to fulfill my needs with Dragon Wars last weekend.

After watching the Resident Evil Extinction trailer, I had a mixed bag. One hand, I thought it could be really awesome. But my cynicism has returned after watching Dragon Wars. Alice looks badass in the film but there are some hokey elements that are reminiscent of the first film. I’m just not into zombie-dogs or undead-birds. It reminds of me of what Ryan Reynolds said in Blade 3Blue Skelton Productions “You made a vampire out of a Pomeranian?” Still maybe Resident Evil will pull off flying zombies. It will be hella cool if they do.

According to Zap2it: “Zombies weren't all Milla Jovovich and company had to deal with in Mexico.” It would seem that record heat made the set of Resident Evil 3 a sweaty place. I have a friend who has a sweat fetish that would have loved to be on that set. To read more about the production or Resident Evil 3 you can click here.

I was very glad that Milla Jovovich has returned to the Resident Evil cast. Mike Epps returns as well with Oded Fehr, but I am sad to say that Sienna Guillory who played Jill Valentine will not return for Resident Evil Extinction. I really liked her character but they never really developed her or showed how she fit into the video games. I guess there is only room for one heroine in the Resident Evil Series.

Still Resident Evil Extinction has a lot going for it. It is a lot less sketchy than D-Wars and I think that it will be able at least match Resident Evil Apocalypse. I just hope that it can raise the bar for special effects and zombie gore enough to make it stand out. Alice has been compared to Mad Max in this movie and I am looking forward to seeing what she can do. Resident Evil Extinction should be in a theater near you this weekend.
