Welcome to the August 27, 2007 edition of a Carnival for Film Junkies!
Production Articles
Gautam Valluri presents The Vertigo Zoom or: How I learned to fall into an infinite abyss while standing perfectly still posted at Broken Projector, saying, "An article on the cinematographic technique of 'The Vertigo Zoom'"
Reviews
Brip Blap presents Lord of War posted at Brip Blap Movies, saying, "A review of "Lord of War" starring Nicholas Cage - mangle a Russian accent, hit a few uninspiring notes, but still come out of it with a decent movie..." This is the only movie that I have ever liked Nick Cage in. What can I saw except that Nick plays a great used-car-salesman and that is basically what "Yuri Orlov" (I forgot his real name) was except he was selling guns.
Sidhusaaheb presents The Name Is Not Enough posted at I, Me, Myself. A review of the latest James Bond Film, and a discussion on how it compares to the rest of the films. His article echoes a lot of my own personal feelings and it has earned him the "marquee spot" on my Blog Carnival.
Meredith Mathews presents Top 10 Movies to Love That Make You Laugh and Cry! posted at Lemonade Stand. Meredith takes us down memory lane with some great movies. She did a great job at compiling the list. The majority of the films are "chick-flicks." but they are some of the best and her reviews are insightful and heartfelt.
John Simmons presents The Simpsons Movie Review posted at Movie Reviews, a very objective review of Simpsons film. I agree with him on just about every point especially about giving the side characters more screen-time.
TherapyDoc presents No Reservations: How NOT to talk to your kid posted at Everyone Needs Therapy. I have not heard of this film so I will let TherapyDoc's review speak for itself. I am glad she posted and and might give it a whirl when it comes out on DVD.
Samir Bharadwaj presents The Village - a review posted at SamirBharadwaj.com, saying, "I have never watched the Sixth Sense. I heard a lot about The Village when it was first released and most of it was a bit negative to say the least. When I caught it on TV a while ago, I was in for a surprise." - Samir reviews M. Night Shyamalan's movie "The Village"
Movies
EfficientAwesomeness presents Batman:(Part 3) 9 Things that Batman movies need and are horribly lacking posted at Efficient Awesomeness, saying, "A take on how to improve Batman in the live-action Hollywood movies" Efficient Awesomeness gives a sometimes scathing analysis of the failings and shortcomings of the Batman Movies. With the exception of Katie Holmes I enjoyed Batman Begins. But if you are a serious Batman Fan, I highly recommend this article. It is very in depth and is definitely written by an expert.
Everything Else Pertaining to Movies
Madeleine Begun Kane presents It's Not That I Don't Like Movies, But... posted at Mad Kane's Humor Blog Madeleine Posts a very interesting limerick about going to the theater. I am not sure that i have ever heard a limerick about seeing a movie and it was a pretty cool experience. I have to admit it had been a while since I had read/heard one. Its very good and I suggest that you give it a look.
Kevin Fleming presents Satellite vs Cable posted at Satellite TV Guru, saying, "This article puts satellite and cable service to the test and explores which is better." This doesn't really pertain to the creative or production side of entertainment but I included it because: We have to watch our media on something. I can't afford cable or satellite but the article is well written and if you are considering Satellite, check out this article.
That concludes this edition.

Thanks for the kind words and the link. Glad to here you got some use out of the Batman article even though you liked the last movie (I did too, by the way. Doesn't mean it's even near adequate, though.)
I am honoured!
:)
BTW, I wish you all the best for the movie!
